COP is an abbreviation for “Conference of the Parties.” The first COP, known as COP1, was held in Berlin, Germany in 1995. COP27 is being held this year in November, at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt will host the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) in November 2022, with the goal of building on previous successes and paving the way for future ambition to effectively address the global challenge of climate change.

What will be the topics of discussion at COP27?
COP27 is likely to focus on climate impacts and adaptation in Africa, a continent currently dealing with the combined consequences of climate change, food, fuel, and fertiliser shocks caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the COVID-19 epidemic.
